National Children’s Month

Proclamation No. 267 dated September 30 1993, declared the month of October of every year as the National Children’s Month in recognition of the Filipino children as the most valuable asset of the nation and their vital role in nation-building pursuant to Section 13, Article II of the Constitution.

The DILG is a member agency of the Council for Welfare of Children (CWC), the focal agency for children’s welfare and concerns. As part of its responsibilities, the Department issues a Memorandum Circular advocating to and enjoining LGUS to spearhead activities in celebration of the Children’s Month in their respective localities.

This year’s theme is “Local Council For The Protection of Children (LCPC) Para Sa Bright Child: Pakilusin, Palakasin, Pagtulungan Natin!” is in support to the campaign to strengthen the LCPC which is the enabling mechanism for the creation of a child friendly society that is sensitive to the needs of the child, and where all sectors work to produce holistic and sustainable strategies that promote child rights. .
