November 15, 2011 to November 21, 2011
Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week is celebrated every third week of November pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 124 signed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2001. The observance aims to increase awareness among Filipinos about the unfavorable effects of drug and substance abuse not only on the health but also on the social, economic, and even the political development of the country.
The Dangerous Drugs Board was tapped to lead the activities commemorating the event together with other government agencies, professional, civic, and religious organizations, and the mass media. The government believes that a systematically coordinated information drive about the evils of drug abuse can greatly help in preventing the rising numbers of drug dependents in the country
