May 1, 2011 to May 31, 2011
The month of May is being celebrated as Natural Family Planning Month pursuant to Department Circular No. 50-A, series of 1995.
The Natural Family Planning program is a health intervention program and an important tool for the improvement of the health and welfare of mothers, children and other members of the family.
It also provides information and services for the couples of reproductive age to plan their family according to their beliefs and circumstances through legally and medically acceptable natural family planning methods.
The objective of the month-long activity is to promote the use of Natural Family Planning through advocacy and close coordination with government agencies, NGOs, LGUs, Academe, Religious and other sectors to reduce the health risks to women and children due to short birth intervals, and too frequent pregnancies and childbirth.
