SAN MARCELINO, ZAMBALES – Known as the Singkamas Producing Capital of Zambales, this town will end its week-long town fiesta celebration on February 27 with its colorful Singkamas Festival grand parade.
Anchored on the theme “Wow Singkamas! The Wonder of San Marcelino,” the town fiesta commenced on February 20 with a Misa ng Bayan in the morning and an opening program in the afternoon held at the Municipal Public Plaza.
Among the events included in the evening of the first day were Mr. Zambales 2011 Body Building Competition and Amateur Boxing Competition which drew the Marcileneans in excitement.
On February 21, the DepEd/RMTU Night was held in the Municipal Public Plaza which showcased talents in music and dance of elementary and high school students and teachers of DepEd and the Sining Folkloric Group of Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU).
The Search for Ms. Gay Universe was the activity on February 22 which flaunted the beauty and wit of the gays of the town.
Meanwhile the LGU/Barangayan Night and the Awarding of Huwarang Kabarangay were held on the night of February 23 hosted by town mayor Jose F. Rodriguez.
The Singkamas Cooking Contest was done in the morning of February 24 followed by the SWS Got Talent held at St. William’s School (SWS) and the Balikbayan Night held at the Municipal Public Plaza.
On February 25, the Drum and Lyre Competition was held in the morning, Basketball Exhibition Game in the afternoon and Mardigras at night.
Parlor Games in the afternoon and the Grand Ball in the evening were the activities on February 26.
The town fiesta will culminate tomorrow, February 27 featuring the Grand Civic Parade at 2:00 pm, Singkamas Festival Grand Parade at 4:00 pm to be immediately followed by the Street Dancing Competition. A Disco Night will be held in the evening.
This year’s town fiesta is headed by Ms. Marietta Ragadio, Chairperson of the Town Fiesta Executive Committee. #
