Guinness World Records III

Guinness World Records™ has become a household name and the global leader in world records. No other enterprise collects, confirms, accredits and presents world record data with the same investment in comprehensiveness and authenticity.

Here are the third batch of  my collection of some of the most interesting exciting Guinness World Records set at the end of 2009 and during 2010.

The largest Christmas star ornament is 31.59 m (103 ft 8 in) long and weighs 4,200 kg (9,259 lb) and was recognized in Cochin, Kerala, India on Dec 31, 2009.

The largest umbrella mosaic consisted of 1,026 people holding umbrellas in an event organized by Mlekara (Serbia) in Subotica, Serbia on Oct 9th 2009.

The largest seashell mosaic measured 1,873 sq ft and was achieved by the Dubai Police at their headquarters in the United Arab Emirates on Jan 17th 2010.

The Village People lead 40,148 dancing “YMCA” fans into the Guinness World Records book at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

Largest Basketball Attendance Ever: The new record of 108,713 was announced during the NBA All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium in Texas on Feb 14th 2010.

The Tallest Dog Ever is Giant George, a Great Dane, who measured 1.092 m (43 in) tall on Feb 15th, 2010 and is owned by David Nasser of Tucson, Arizona, USA.

The largest tunic measures 33.90 m (111 ft 2 in) long and 18.50 m (60 ft 8 in) wide and was unveiled at the Red Sea Mall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Feb 16, 2010.

The highest altitude wind generator (recognized on Feb 19th 2010) is located in San Juan in the Andes mountain range, Argentina at 4,110 m (13,484 ft) above sea level.

The longest pickup truck ramp jump completed by Johnny Greaves measured 91 m 74 cm (301 ft) at the La Posta Truck Trail in Campo, California, USA on Dec 18, 2009.

The most children reading with an adult in a single location is 3,234 at the London Muslim Center in London, UK on March 4, 2010.

The most people static cycling is 1,052 and was organised by Life Time Fitness in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA on March 7, 2010.

The largest playing card structure consisted of 218,792 cards, measured 34 ft 1 in long and 9 ft 5 in tall and was created by Bryan Berg (USA) at the Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel in China on Mar 10, 2010.

The largest rabbit made of chocolate weighed 2,800 kg (6172 lb 15 oz) and was made by Supermercados Imperatriz Ltda and Nestle Food Services (both Brazil) in Sao Jose, Santa Catarina, Brazil, on 30 March 2009. The chocolate rabbit sculpture was made of Nestle milk chocolate. It was 3.4 m high and 2.2 m in diameter.

The most meatballs eaten in one minute is 29 and was achieved by Takeru Kobayashi (Japan) for Bikkuri Chojin 100 Special #3 (Fuji TV) in New York, New York, USA, on 8 March 2010. Kobayashi performed the feat at Fulton Street Landing in Brooklyn, New York, and consumed IKEA meatballs.

The record for most cans crushed with a vehicle in three minutes is 61106 cans and was achieved by Burn Energy Drink (UAE), at the Jumeirah Beach Residence, in Dubai, UAE, on 6 March 2010. A 20,000 lbs Monster Truck was used to crush 82800 cans of burn energy drink. Only 61106 cans were crushed after three minutes.
